Head races where you come home with 9 bottles of prosecco for your achievements before the stopwatch has even begun are my new favourite type of head races.

Report by Noemie Lefranq:

Last Sunday, under a radiant sun, W1 set off at the start of the Champs Head. After diligently practising our starting sequence in the days leading up to the race, we made a clean and powerful start. We quickly found our rhythm and remained focused on our power and technique throughout the race, incorporating the changes made during training. We even found the energy to increase the stroke rate by 2 at the end of the race. We are pleased with the result, which reflects our commitment and the progress we have recently made!

Thanks to the Champs Boat Club for organising this great day of racing!

The first race of the Easter M2 crew got off to a shaky start. After a disappointing no-show from our two-man (tut-tut) we were fortunate to find a last-minute sub by the name of Ham Htephenson. He is a man none of us have ever seen before, and certainly isn’t the men’s side captain and M1 stroke…

A sharp standing start and quick settle into race pace got the boat moving, gliding up the Cam like hot butter in a saucepan. The boat crossed the line with a solid time of 5:02, beating Downing’s, Pembroke’s, and Peterhouse’s M2s. With a month to go before bumps, spirits are high.
